2 Why I'm Voting for Obama

If you don’t know me, I’m an African-American. Naturally one would think that my reasons for choosing Obama are blatantly obvious. Frankly, it’s not even close.

My views on political leadership are rather different. In a country that has been bruised and broken by poor policy and immature leadership, your typical “old and wise” president just don’t fill the bill anymore. We need something fresh, something green and someone untested by the child-play of everyday politics.

Inexperience Equates to a Fresher Perspective

For months people have been whining about how ill-experienced Obama’s is in politics. Personally, that is probably the best thing he has going for him. He can look at politics purely and realistically and make fresh decisions. In the past, every major political decision have been based on century old interests and obligations. Our country is growing, but it’s own maturity isn’t keeping up. Real growth takes risks. A baby can’t walk if they never make risky attempts which entail falling into a table or falling down in general.

This country has built itself upon overly cautious decision making that doesn’t move forward. We move left to right, but never forward. Can you imagine technology moving as politics does? We’d still be riding horse buggies.

Yeah, I like that Obama has no idea what kind of cesspool of crap he’s jumping into. Every other president always had a 900 pound guerrilla on their backs going into office. Obama is jumping in, light and nimble, without much fear.

I’m not so concerned with his inexperience as I am with his inability to tell much of anything about what he stands for. His campaign is built on “change” but that’s a pretty broad brush to paint with.

What exactly is he going to change and how does he plan on doing it?

My hope is now that it is a two-horse race we will start to see real questions, real answers, and a limited amount of mud-slinging. Tell us what you can do not what your opponent can’t or hasn’t done.

I agree on a few levels there. However, the campaign really has never been used to plot plans or bread and butter facts. It’s kind of like an 18 month pep rally for each candidate. Like you said, we’ll probably see some more cohesive answers during the race to be elected.

Although, no other candidate really delivered any real answers either. All in all, I just want to see a new approach. What they actually attempt to do is more important that how they coddle me into believing how they’re going to do it.
